This week’s subject in my project is Bowser. He is our elder dog, a beagle mix who looks like an older version of Snoopy. We found him in 2009 at a shelter in New York; my husband had always wanted a beagle, and there he was, in a cage, surrounding by hyper dogs who were constantly barking, and he was quiet as could be. Just wagging his tail. We both fell in love.
Bowser has tagged along with us for almost 10 years now. He has had a feline companion, now another canine companion in Moxxi, and now tries to find somewhere quiet to sleep constantly to avoid the two energetic human children who brazenly run around the house. It’s becoming very apparent that he won’t be around forever. One day his age will catch up to him, and one day, we will have to say goodbye. So, as young as your four-legged family may be, cherish each day.
